Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup flour , sifted
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tbsp water , icy cold
  • 1/2 tsp lemon extract
  • 2 tbsp sugar , for the top of the cake

Directions:

  1. Grease an 8 x 8 inch pan and preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Sift flour, salt and baking powder together.
  3. Beat eggs and sugar thoroughly.
  4. Add water and lemon extract; beat hard.
  5. Add sliced nuts and flour, beating lightly until thoroughly mixed.
  6. Pour the batter into prepared pan, sprinkle sugar evenly on top and bake until golden brown.
  7. Allow cake to cool in pan before cutting into slices.
