Ingredients:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 tsp anise seed
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg

Directions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugars.
  2. Beat in egg.
  3. Combine dry ingredients; add to creamed mixture and mix well.
  4. Divide dough into 10 portions; shape each into a 12 inch log.
  5. Place 3 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets.
  6. Flatten with a fork to 1/4 inch thickness.
  7. Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Cool for 5 minutes; cut diagonally into 1 inch slices.
  9. Remove to wire racks to cool completely.
