Directions:

  1. Combine 3 cups flour, 2 tablespoons sugar, 4 teaspoons baking powder, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon baking soda and 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves.
  2. Use your fingers to rub in 1 1/2 sticks of butter until the mixture resembles small peas.
  3. Add 1 cup buttermilk and stir until just combined.
  4. Drop large spoonfuls onto a baking sheet and bake at 425 degrees until golden, about 15 minutes.
