Heath Bar Coffee Cake

Ingredients:

  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 cups brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 2 cups flour
  • place these in a bowl and mix well in an electric mixer. take out 1/2 cup of this mixture to use for the topping. in the bowl with the remaining mixture in it, add the following and mix until all dry ingredients are moistened
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • for the topping, add the following to the 1/2 cup of reserved mix
  • 5 oz. crushed heath bars (roughly 1/4 inch square pieces)
  • pour the batter into prepared baking dish and spread until even. sprinkle the topping over the batter evenly. bake at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. slice into bars and serve

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9x13 inch Pyrex® baking dish.
  2. Makes about 32 bars.
