Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Chop vegetables and sprinkle with salt. stir well; let set overnight (approximately 8 hours). stir and drain off salt water. mix vinegar, water, sugar, alum and turmeric; pour over chopped vegetables. tie pickling spice in rag and put in mixture. cook slowly for 2 hours, stirring often. put in sterilized, hot jars and seal while hot. process in a boiling water bath for 5 minutes.
  2. Prep time includes overnight.
