Grandma's Old Fashioned Brownies

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine
  • 1/4 cup cocoa
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup walnuts (optional)
  • 1 pinch salt

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F
  2. Melt butter in microwave.
  3. Add the cocoa and stir.
  4. In medium bowl beat eggs until frothy.
  5. Add sugar, flour, and salt (also nuts if you are using them).
  6. Pour cocoa mixture over egg mixture and stir all together.
  7. Put into a greased 8 x 8 pan. Bake for 30 minutes.
  8. For a doubled recipe use a 9 x 13 pan.
  9. Icing, recipe below.
  10. Icing for Best Ever Brownies:
  11. 1 1/3 cup icing sugar.
  12. 1/3 cup cocoa.
  13. 3 tbsp butter or margarine.
  14. 1 tbsp & 2 tsp hot water
  15. Beat all ingredients together, add more liquid if necessary.
  16. Spread over brownies.
