Grandma's Molasses Cake

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup shortening ( minus 1 tbsp)
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp clove
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1 cup hot water

Directions:

  1. Heat oven to 350 and oil 8 cake pan.
  2. Combine all ingredients, except the hot water, mix well.
  3. Add hot water, batter will be thin.
  4. Blend well and pour into pan.
  5. Bkae 35 minutes.
