Ingredients:

  • 1 (3/4 oz) packet active dry yeast
  • 4 1/4 cups flour
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 tsp salt

Directions:

  1. In a bowl, dissolve sugar and yeast in warm water and allow to sit for 10 minutes, covered.
  2. In separate bowl, combine flour and salt.
  3. Add to yeast mixture.
  4. Add melted butter.
  5. Mix with paddle attachment of stand mixer or wooden spoon until fully combined.
  6. Knead dough for a few minutes just until dough is smooth.
  7. Grease a cookie sheet.
  8. Pull off pieces of dough and roll out into strips. Cover the dough and let sit in a warm place for 45 minutes to an hour.
  9. Preheat oven to 400 degrees and cook for 6-7 minutes.
  10. In microwave, combine butter, garlic powder and salt.
  11. Brush bread sticks with half the butter mixture.
  12. Continue to bake and additional 5-8 minutes.
  13. Brush the other half of the butter on the sticks.
  14. Allow to cool for a few minutes before eating.
