Fudge Walnut Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 5 1/2 cups sifted flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 cups shortening
  • 3 1/3 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 4 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 cup confectioners' sugar

Directions:

  1. Sift together flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt; set aside.
  2. Cream together shortening and sugar in a bowl until light and fluffy, using electric mixer at medium speed. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Blend in cottage cheese and vanilla.
  3. Gradually add dry ingredients to creamed mixture, mixing well with spoon. Stire in walnuts and chocolate pieces. Drop mixture by teaspoonfuls, about 2 inches apart, on greased baking sheets.
  4. Bake in 350 degree oven for 12 to 15 minutes, or until slight imprint remains wihen lightly touched with finger. Roll cookies in confectioner's sugar.
