French  Dip Sandwiches

Ingredients:

  • 2 -4 lbs chuck roast
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 (1 1/4 oz) package lipton's dry onion soup mix
  • 1 loaf small french bread, loaves
  • 1/4 cup red wine (if you want a different taste) (optional)

Directions:

  1. Brown roast quickley on both sides.
  2. Cover with water.
  3. Add onion soup mix, Worcestershire, salt & pepper.
  4. Cook several hours, covered, until tender.
  5. Slice bread & butter generously.
  6. Wrap in foil & heat 15-20 minutes until butter is melted & bread is hot.
  7. Slice roast & put on hot French bread.
  8. Stir red wine into gravy (optional).
  9. Put gravy in ramekins or lotus bowls for dipping sandwiches.
