Ingredients:

  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 4 tbsp. ( heaping ) lard or vegetable shortening - lard' s traditional
  • 11/4 to 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder

Directions:

  1. Sift flour, baking powder and salt together. Cut in lard; add enough water, kneading dough until soft and smooth in texture. Form into balls about 3” in diameter.
  2. Roll out into round flat shaped circles about 1/8” thick and cook on griddle on medium heat, flipping tortilla until both sides are spotted medium brown.
