Dom Deluise's Cheese and Onion Bread

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups chopped onions
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • pepper , to taste
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 2/3 cup milk

Directions:

  1. Sauté onion in 2 tablespoons butter until tender.
  2. In a bowl, combine onions with egg, sour cream, and pepper. Mix well; set aside.
  3. In another bowl, mix flour and baking powder. Cut in 1/4 cup butter until crumbly and fine. Stir in half the cheese. Add milk to make a soft dough. Pat into a 9 pan.
  4. Spread sour cream mixture on top. Sprinkle with remaining cheese and parsley.
  5. Bake at 425° for 25 minutes.
  6. Cut into squares and serve warm.
