  1. In a small heavy saucepan cook onion, garlic, and cumin seeds with salt and pepper to taste in oil over moderate heat, stirring, until onion is pale golden, about 5 minutes. Remove pan from heat and cool onion completely.
  2. In a bowl toss onion with beans, orange juice, and salt and pepper to taste. Add mint and toss gently.
