Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs small turnips
  • 1 cup thinly sliced onion
  • 1 1/2 tbsp flour
  • 1 cup skim milk
  • 1/8-1/4 tsp dried thyme
  • 1/8-1/4 tsp nutmeg

Directions:

  1. Peel and quarter turnips.
  2. Steam turnips with onions until turnips are tender.
  3. In a saucepan whisk flour with 2 tbsp milk until smooth.
  4. Add remaining milk and cook until thickened.
  5. Add spices.
  6. Pour over turnip that is in a 1-1/2 qt ovenproof bowl.
  7. Sprinkle with cheese.
  8. Bake 350 for 15 min.
