Ingredients:

  • 2/3 cup shortening
  • 2 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • cinnamon as needed

Directions:

  1. Combine Shortening, Flour, Salt and Sugar. Mix until Crumbly. Reserve 1/2 cup to sprinkle over the batter. Add other staples to remaining crumb mixture. Add buttermilk and eggs. Pour into a 9x13 pan. Sprinkle with reserved crumbs and extra cinnamon if desired. Bake 375 for 25-30 Minutes. Test middle to make sure it is done.
