Ingredients:

  • 90 g butter
  • 1/3 cup castor sugar
  • 1 tsp hot water
  • 1 1/3 cups cake flour
  • 3/4 cup dates
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1 tab spoon oranje juice
  • icing sugar for dusting

Directions:

  1. Beat together butter and castor sugar until light and fluffy
  2. Mix coffee with hot water and add to butter mix
  3. Add egg yolks and mix
  4. Lastly add flour to make a soft dough
  5. Place in fridge for +_ 30 mins
  6. In the mean time make the filling:-
  7. Add thedates,water,and orange juice to a saucepan cook on low heat for about 15 mins......until thick and mushy........let it cool completely
  8. Roll dough in a rectangle [ 20 x 30 cms ]
  9. Spread the cold filling evenly onto the dough
  10. Roll up from the longest side,tightly ,like a swiss roll
  11. Refridgerate for 30 mins
  12. Cut dough into 3mm slices
  13. Bake 160 for +_ 10 mins
  14. Once cold ......dust with icing sugar..Mmmmm.....and enjoy......:}
