Ingredients:

  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 3 cup sugar
  • 5 large eggs
  • 3 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup cocoa
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup milk

Directions:

  1. Beat butter and shortening at medium speed with an electric mixer about 2 minutes or until creamy. Gradually add sugar, beating at medium speed 5-7 minute. Add eggs, one at a time, beating just until yellow disappears.
  2. Combine flour and next 3 ingredients, add to butter mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Mix at low speed just until blended after each addition. Stir in vanilla. Pour batter into a greased floured 10 inch tube pan.
  3. Bake at 325 for 1 hour and 30 min. or until a wooden pick inserted in center of cake comes out clean. Cool in pan on a wire rack 10 min, remove from pan and let cool completely on wire rack.
