Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Put chicken, poultry seasoning, salt, pepper, onion, carrot,.
  2. And celery into a large heavy kettle.
  3. Put enough water into the pot to cover these ingredients.
  4. The water should come up about 3 inches above the ingredients.
  5. Bring to a boil, turn the heat down and simmer until the chicken is tender and the vegetables are soft.
  6. Remove from heat source.
  7. Remove the chicken and vegetables from the broth with a slotted spoon.
  8. Remove skin from chicken.
  9. Shred the chicken.
  10. Discard the vegetables and add the shredded chicken back into the broth.
  11. DUMPLINGS.
  12. Mix flour, baking powder and salt.
  13. Cut in shortening.
  14. Add milk and mix.
  15. Bring the broth and chicken mixture to a boil.
  16. Drop the dumpling mix into the boiling chicken and broth by the tablespoonful.
  17. Cook uncovered for 10 minutes.
  18. Cover and continue cooking for 10 more minutes.
  19. You might have to turn the heat down to keep the dumplings from boiling over, but do not remove the lid.
