Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 eggs (beaten before adding to sugar mixture)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 cups flour (sifted)

Directions:

  1. Cream shortening, sugar, add eggs, mashed banana and sour cream.
  2. Flour, salt and baking soda sifted stir into mashed banana mixture should be slightly lumpy add to 9x5x2 pan that has been greased and floured after flouring pan throw out excess flour.
  3. Bake 350 Fahrenheit 45 minutes test to see if the bread is done with toothpick if it comes clean it is done if not keep baking for 15 minutes longer watch carefully as those last 15 minutes can brown the banana bread too much. If your oven runs hot turn off oven at the 45 minute mark or make a foil tent for the bread.
