Candied  Sweet Potatoes Made With Simple Syrup

Ingredients:

  • 2 cup water
  • 1 lb sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • some nutmeg to taste

Directions:

  1. Combine water, sugar, butter, and nutmeg into a deep
  2. Pot.
  3. Peel and slice 8 to 10 raw sweet potatoes or yams in same size pieces and place in liquid.
  4. Cover and gently boil until potatoes tender.
  5. Make sure to test now and then as to not overcook potatoes
  6. This is so simple and produces a basic but luscious candied sweet potato.
  7. Add salt , pepper and more nutmeg to taste.
  8. Embelish as you want with candied fruit, toasted nuts, etc.
