Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Set oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Set oven rack to second-lowest position.
  3. Grease a 13x9-in baking pan.
  4. In a mixing bowl, cream the shortening and sugars.
  5. Add eggs, beat well; beat in vanilla.
  6. Combine flour, oats and baking soda; gradually add to creamed mixture.
  7. Stir in chips and pecans; reserve 2 cups for the top of bars.
  8. Spread remaining dough into greased baking pan.
  9. In a mixing bowl, combine filling ingredients; spread evenly over crust.
  10. Crumble remaining dough over filling.
  11. Bake for 40-42 mins, or until golden brown.
  12. Cool, and cut into bars.
  13. Note: although I have never tryed it, if you prefer more filling, I presume that you could double the filling ingredients, just bake a little longer.
