Broiled Monte Cristo Sandwich

Ingredients:

  • 4 slices bread
  • 4 slices turkey
  • 4 slices ham
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 tsp water
  • 1 tsp butter
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/8 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp parsley (optional)

Directions:

  1. Assemble 2 sandwiches, each filled with 2 slices of the turkey and 2 slices of the ham.
  2. Beat eggs with water in a shallow bowl.
  3. In a frying pan, heat oil and butter.
  4. Dip both sides of one sandwich in eggs.
  5. Fry both sides of the sandwich until golden brown.
  6. Repeat with remaining sandwiches.
  7. Place sandwiches in a baking dish.
  8. In a saucepan, combine cheese, milk, mayonnaise, and nutmeg.
  9. Heat, stirring constantly, until cheese melts and mixture is smooth.
  10. Pour over sandwiches.
  11. Broil 6 inches from heat for 4-5 minutes or until bubbly.
  12. Garnish with parsley and lemon slices.
