Ingredients:

  • 8 cups white bread
  • 2 1/4 cups milk
  • 2 3/4 cups heavy cream
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

Directions:

  1. Cube bread and place in a greased 13in x 9in x 2in baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk the eggs, milk,1-3/4 cup cream, 1 cup sugar, 3/4 cup melted butter, vanilla and cinnamon. Pour evenly over bread.
  3. Bake uncovered at 350* for 40-45 minutes or until knife inserted near the center comes out clean. Let stand for 5 minutes before cutting.
  4. Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, bring 1 cup sugar, water, and lemon juice to a boil.
  5. Reduce heat to medium; cook until sugar is dissolved and amber color.
  6. Stir in 2 tablespoons butter until melted.
  7. Add 1 cup cream.
  8. Remove from the heat. Serve with bread pudding.
