Bierrocks or Meat and Cabbage Rolls

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups warm water
  • 2 (1/4 oz) packets dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup margarine
  • 6 -6 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 lbs beef
  • 1/2 cup onion
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper

Directions:

  1. Bierrocks.
  2. Serves 10.
  3. Bake 350/20-30 minute.
  4. Dough:.
  5. 2 cp warm water.
  6. 2 pkg dry yeast.
  7. 1/4 cp sugar.
  8. 1 1/2 tsp salt.
  9. 1 egg.
  10. 1/4 cp margarine.
  11. 6-6 1/2 cp flour.
  12. Chill dough several hours.
  13. Meat mixture:.
  14. Brown in skillet:.
  15. 1 1/2 lb. beef.
  16. 1/2 cp onion.
  17. Add:.
  18. 3 cp cabbage, finely cut.
  19. 1 1/2 tsp salt.
  20. 1/2 tsp pepper.
  21. Dash Tabasco sauce.
  22. Cover skillet and continue cooking over low heat stirring occasionally, until cabbage is tender. Do not add liquid.
  23. Cool slightly.
  24. Roll out dough into thin sheets. Cut in 5 squares. Place 2 tablespoons meat mixture on each square, pinch edges together and place pinched side down on greased cookie sheet. Let rise 15 minutes. Bake at 350 for 20-30 minutes.
