Amish Molasses Crumb Cake

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup crisco
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp clove
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 4 tbsp molasses

Directions:

  1. Mix all crumb ingredients and save 3/4 cup of crumbs.
  2. To prepare BATTER.
  3. Pour milk over baking soda, pour this mixture over molasses.
  4. Add all crumbs EXCEPT reserved 3/4 cup and mix well -
  5. Pour into a greased and floured 9 square pan.
  6. Sprinkle reserved 3/4 cup of crumb mixture evenly over batter.
  7. Bake at 3508 for approximately 25 minutes.
