Ingredients:

  • 1 cup butter (228 g)
  • 1 3/8 cups almond paste
  • 1 3/4 cups sugar (350 g)
  • 2 eggs (100 g)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup sliced almonds (110 g)

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees f.
  2. Line a 9x13 pan with foil and grease with butter.
  3. Cream together butter and almond paste.
  4. Beat in eggs, vanilla and sugar until smooth.
  5. Stir in flour and salt (you may want to sift them together beforehand, but it works ok without).
  6. Pour into prepared 9x13 pan- dough.
  7. Will be thick, make sure to pat it into the corners.
  8. Sprinkle with sliced almonds, pat lightly to press into surface.
  9. Bake for 40 minutes, or until edges are golden brown.
  10. Cool on a rack, lift from pan and slice into bars.
  11. Store refrigerated.
  12. Freeze extremely well.
