Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp water
  • pinch salt
  • pour scalded milk slowly into the other mixture,stirring constantly.
  • cook over hot water till thick and smooth,add flavoring of choice.
  • pour into wet berry dishes.
  • chill and serve with cream (or )sauce made of berries (or) fruit.
  • brown sugar was used to give it a caramel flavor and ....then,came the snow pie

Directions:

  1. ~SNOW PIE~
  2. Mix:
  3. 3/4 Cup Sugar
  4. Pinch of Salt
  5. 1 Tablespoon Cornstarch,heaping
  6. Add:
  7. 1 Cup Cold water.....and boil till clear
  8. Beat:
  9. 2 Egg Whites....and fold into above mixture
  10. Add:
  11. Some Vanilla....and pour into baked crust.
  12. Top with whipped cream,coconut,(or)fruit.
  13. In this time...the farm prices had dropped completely out of sight,the jobs became nonexistent,there was no money flow,the structure of American society had disintegrated.The people of that time are to be recognized for their endurance.Mothers,Grandmothers,cooking meals out of nothing and making them taste good.Fathers and Grandfathers working their fingers to the bone,in an attempt to keep things going.They were 'Proud People' and passed that virtue on to the next generation.They dug down deep to find the best of themselves...They had to succeed...One that my Grandparents lived through and come out the other side,a little tattered and worn,but they and many more had...NO OTHER CHOICE!! ...It was called... THE GREAT DEPRESSION
