Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 3/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2-1 cup walnuts, chopped

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 300°F.
  2. Cream the shortening and sugar together.
  3. Add eggs, one at a time and beating well after each addition.
  4. Then add the bananas.
  5. Sift flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt together.
  6. Next add the flour mix and buttermilk to the creamed mixture.
  7. Then while stirring well add vanilla and nuts.
  8. Bake in greased 9 x 5 loaf pan for 1 hours.
  9. Cool for 15 minute.
