Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. In a big bowl combine flour, salt and sugar. Rub in butter using your fingers until coarse crumbs form.
  2. Add the applesauce and knead into a soft, but not sticky dough. Form a ball and wrap into cling film. Chill for 1 hour.
  3. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to a round of approximately 10 inches.
  4. Pat into a 20 cm/8 inch spring-form pan.
  5. In a second bowl combine jam and nectarine slices (for easier mixing heat jam in microwave). Pour this into the pie shell. If youd like a more sophisticated presentation arrange nectarine slices in concentric circles on the dough, slightly overlapping.
  6. Sprinkle with chopped walnuts and bake in the pre-heated oven at 200°C/400°F for 30-35 minutes.
  7. Serve with whipped cream or ice-cream if you like.
