Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350º.
  2. Grease a 9 X 13 baking pan.
  3. Prepare Base:
  4. Beat butter and sugar until smooth and creamy.
  5. Beat in the egg yolks until well mixed.
  6. Add flour slowly and mix until incorporated.
  7. Shape dough into a ball and knead lightly.
  8. Press into bottom of prepared baking pan.
  9. Bake in oven for 15 minutes or until lightly browned.
  10. Place pan on cooling rack until it cools slightly.
  11. Prepare Filling:
  12. Stir jam or jelly until it is smooth, then spread evenly over base.
  13. Sprinkle chocolate chips over the jam.
  14. Set aside.
  15. Prepare Topping:
  16. In your mixing bowl whip egg whites with salt until frothy.
  17. Gradually beat in sugar until stiff peaks form.
  18. Fold in toasted pecans.
  19. Spread gently over the chocolate chips.
  20. Bake for 25 minutes or until lightly browned.
  21. Place on cooling rack to cool completely.
  22. Cut into bars
