Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees f. grease and flour 2 9 inch - round cake pans
  2. For cake ................
  3. Combine flour, baking powder, pumpkin pie spice, baking soda, nutmeg, and salt in a small bowl
  4. Beat granulated sugar and butter in largemixer bowl until creamy
  5. Add eggs; beat for 2 minutes
  6. Beat in pumpkin , evaporated milk, water and vanilla.
  7. Gradually beat in flour mixture
  8. Spread evenly into prepared pans
  9. Bake for 35 - 40 minutes or until a wooden pick comes out clean when inserted in center.........
  10. Cool in pans on a wire rack for 15 minutes , then remove to wire racks to cool completely........

  12. For maple frosting
  13. Beat cream cheese and powdered sugar in a larger mixer bowl until fluffy add maple flavoring , mix well..........
  14. ********************************************
  15. To assemble cake ;....................
  16. Cut each layer in half horizontally , with a long , serrated knife
  17. Frost between each layer and on top od cake leaving sides unfrosted
  18. Garnish as desired
  19. When making 2 layer cake frost sides and top and inbetween
  20. 12 servings
