  1. Combine sugar and 1/4 cup water in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly until sugar dissolves. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla. Cool 30 minutes or until room temperature.
  2. Combine cooled vanilla syrup, seltzer, and pomegranate juice in a pitcher. Fill each of 4 glasses with ice; divide soda among glasses.
  3. Tasty Twist Use this recipe as inspiration to make your own Italian sodas: swap the pomegranate juice for another intense juice, like cherry or blueberry. You can also change the syrup flavor with extracts or herbs.
