Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Mix flour and shredded cheese together and set aside.
  2. Warm V8, water and shortening in small saucepan to 80 degrees. Shortening does not need to melt totally.
  3. Place ingredients in bread machine in order given by manufacturer (my machine is liquids (including mayo), salt/sugar, flour mixture, then yeast).
  4. Set machine for "Dark" cycle to fully bake bread. Check dough after 2 minutes and again after 5 minutes. Add more flour if dough is too wet, more water if too dry. After 7 minutes, dough should be forming a round ball, not shaggy or sticking to sides of bread pan. Let loaf rest in machine 10 minutes before removing.
  5. NOTE: It's fine to substitute other cheeses with texture similar to cheddar, or a milder cheddar. With sharp cheddar, flavor is like Cheez-Its crackers.
