  1. Combine flours, salt and baking powder in a bowl, and stir to mix. Cut in shortening to make coarse crumbs. Whisk egg, vinegar and water and mix with dry ingredients to moisten the dough. Pull dough together, wrap with plastic wrap and refrigerate 30 minutes.
  2. Preheat oven to 375
  3. Grease two 6 cup or one 12 cup muffin pan.
  4. On a floured surface roll out 1/2 of dough, cut out six 3 1/2 inch circles with cutter or glass. Pat into muffin tins with fingers. Repeat with other half of dough.
  5. Combine sugar, salt and egg in a bowl and mix well. add melted butter and vinegar. Add corn syrup and stir until blended. fold in optional ingredients. Spoon about about 1 tbsp of filling into each pastry shell.
  6. Bake for 20 minutes, or until crusts are golden and the filling is bubbled up. Let cool 10 minutes before digging in!
