Streusel Cherry Apple Pie

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 3 small apples, sliced ( gala or fuji)
  • 1 (14 1/2 oz) can tart cherries, drained
  • 4 tbsp butter or 4 tbsp margarine, softened
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 dash nutmeg

Directions:

  1. Combine struesel ingredients in a small bowl until blended. Set aside.
  2. In a saucepan, over medium-low heat, combine sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon and nutmeg. Heat until sauce thickens, gently stirring occasionaly. Add apples, then cherries.
  3. Pour mixture into pie shell. Sprinkle streusel over fruit pie mixture.
  4. Bake at 425 degrees for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 degrees and bake for 20-25 minutes or until crust is golden brown.
  5. When at room temperature, chill in refrigerator.
  6. This is to be served cold but see how YOU like it.
