  1. Blend together shortening and sugars; stir in egg and vanilla. Add flour, baking soda and salt; mix well. Stir in chocolate chips. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes, until lightly golden.
