Savory Rice With Mushrooms (Johnny Cash's Mother's Recipe)

Ingredients:

  • butter, 1 cube (don'tsp know how much a cube is)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp basil
  • 1 (10 1/2 oz) can consomme
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • 1 1/2 cups water

Directions:

  1. Melt butter and cook minced onion in it.
  2. Add rice; brown lightly.
  3. Combine other ingredients with rice mixture and bring to boil.
  4. Cover; reduce heat and steam until liquid is absorbed.
  5. If rice is not done, add more water sparingly.
