Sausage and Caramelized Onion Bread Pudding

Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Combine first 5 ingredsients (ending with egg white) in a large bowl; stir well with a whisk.
  2. Add bread, toss gently to coat.
  3. Let bread mixture stand 20 minutes (while you prepare the rest of recipes).
  4. Preheat oven to 350ºF.
  5. Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium heat.
  6. Coat pan with cooking spray.
  7. Add onion to pan; cook 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  8. Add juice; cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  9. Remove casings from sausage.
  10. Crumble sausage into pan; cook 5 minutes or until browned, stirring frequently.
  11. Remove from heat; let stand 5 minutes.
  12. Add sausage mixture and cheese to bread mixture; stir well to combine.
  13. Spoon into an 8 square baking dish coated with cooking spray.
  14. Bake at 350ºF for 40 minutes or until set and lightly browned.
  15. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
