  1. In a mixing bowl, cream brown sugar and butter. Add eggs, one at
  2. A time, beating well after each addition. Beat on high speed until
  3. Light and fluffy.
  4. Blend in vanilla.
  5. Combine flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt; add alternately with
  6. Sour cream to creamed mixture. Mix on low just until combined. Stir
  7. In water until blended. Pour into three greased and floured 9-in.
  8. Round baking pans. Bake at 350 degrees F for 35 minutes.
  9. Cool in pans 10 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely.
  10. For frosting, in a medium saucepan, melt butter and chocolate over
  11. Low heat.
  12. Cool several minutes. In a mixing bowl, combine sugar, sour cream
  13. And vanilla. Add chocolate mixture and beat until smooth. Frost
  14. Cooled cake.
