  1. Put all the ingredients from the dal to the carrot into a pressure cooker and cook for one whistle and simmer for 3 mins and take the cooker off the heat till the pressure subsides Take out the cover and add the drumsticks, sambar powder and extract of the tamarind Put the cooker back on the fire without the weight and boil till the drumsticks cook In a small fry pan heat oil Add the hing, curry leaves, mustard and cumin seeds and the garlic (just hit them a little to break the skin) Heat till the cumin and garlic are browned slightly Add to the cooked dal and stir to mix Garnish with chopped cilantro.
