Salted Cashew Caramel Bars

Ingredients:

  • crust
  • 11/2 cups brown sugar , packed
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 cups salted cashews , mixed nuts , peanuts , whatever nut you prefer
  • 1/2 cup corn syrup
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp water
  • (i would try pnut btter chips!)

Directions:

  1. For the crust, cream together the butter, brown sugar and salt; then blend in the flour. Press mixture into the bottom and up the sides of a 10x15 baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Prepare topping while crust is baking.
  2. For the topping, combine all ingredients in a medium saucepan; bring to a boil and then boil gently for 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
  3. To assemble, remove crust from oven, sprinkle nuts over hot crust, and then pour hot topping over the nuts. Return pan to oven and bake an additional 10 to 14 minutes, until golden brown. Cool completely before cutting into bars.
