Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 3/4 cups flour
  • 1/4 tsp. salt

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Combine flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. Using a wooden spoon, cream together 1 1/2 cups sugar and butter.
  4. Stir in vanilla and eggs.
  5. Add in dry ingredients, mix until just incorporated.
  6. In a small bowl, combine remaining sugar and the cinnamon.
  7. Shape dough into 1 inch balls and roll in cinnamon sugar mixture.
  8. Place about 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
  9. Bake 8 to 10 minutes.
  10. Immediately remove from cookie sheet and let cool on a baking rack.
