Raw Apple Cake With Rum Topping

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups sifted flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tbsp rum

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Cream the shortening and sugar together thoroughly. Add
  3. The remaining cake ingredients, mixing well. Pour into a
  4. 9x13-inch cake pan and bake for 35 to 40 minutes.
  5. To make topping, heat butter, cream and sugar together
  6. Until the sugar dissolves. Stir in the vanilla and rum.
  7. Cut apple cake into squares and serve with hot Rum Topping.
