Ingredients:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup molasses
  • 3/4 cup hot water
  • 2-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1-1/2 tsp ginger
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Directions:

  1. In mixing bowl cream butter and sugar then add eggs and beat on low speed for 2 minutes.
  2. Gradually add molasses and hot water.
  3. In another mixing bowl combine flour, ginger, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt then gradually add dry mixture to creamed mixture and beat on low for 1 minute.
  4. Pour into greased rectangular baking pan and bake for 35 minutes.
  5. Cool on wire rack.
