Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Gently wipe any dirt from the mushrooms and remove the stems.
  2. Finely dice the stems.
  3. Melt butter in skilet, and add stems, onions, seasoning, pepperoni, and any other optional ingredients – sauté until veggies are tender.
  4. Add pizza sauce, bread crumbs and parmesan.
  5. Cook until just heated through and liquid is reduced.
  6. Place mushrooms on a lightly buttered baking sheet - fill mushrooms with cooked filling mixture.
  7. Top filling with a piece of mozzarella cut to just fit over the top of the mushroom.
  8. Sprinkle grated parmesan over the tops.
  9. Bake at 325 degrees about 20 minutes.
  10. Let cool a few minutes before serving, as filling will be very, very hot!
  11. OPTIONAL ingredients: you can create your own flavor by using pizza toppings you like best, such as diced green pepper, garlic, black or green olives, anchovies, cooked meats such as Italian sausage or bacon or Canadian bacon - just remember that veggies are best sauteed first, and if you add more amounts of toppings, you will need to adjust seasonings and pizza sauce measurements!
