Perfect Roast Seasoned Turkey

Ingredients:

  • 1 20 to 22 lb turkey
  • 1/2 stick butter
  • 1 and 1/2 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp creole seasoning
  • 1 tbsp celery seed
  • 2 and 1/2 tbsp dark brown sugar
  • 1 tsp salt

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Wash and remove all giblets and neck from turkey.
  3. Loosen the skin between the breast.
  4. Mix together the seasonings.
  5. Rub half seasonings on top of turkey.
  6. Mix other half of seasonings with butter.
  7. Insert(using hands) the buttered seasonings under the skin of the breast.
  8. Cut up celery and place in cavity of turkey.
  9. Place turkey in roasting pan and cook for 15 minutes at 350.
  10. Lower heat to 225-250 degrees and cook slowly for 6 to 6 hours 15 minutes.
  11. Remove from oven and let sit at least 15 minutes before carving.
  12. The stock is wonderful and will be great for gravy and dressing stock.
