Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp bacon drippings
  • 2 cups cubed unpared apple
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup vinegar
  • 1 1/4 tsp salt
  • dash pepper
  • 1/2 tsp caraway seed

Directions:

  1. Heat drippings in skillet; add remaining ingredients and 1/4 cup water.
  2. Cook covered over low heat; stir occasionally.
  3. For crisp cabbage, cook 15 minutes; for tender, 25 to 30 minutes.
  4. Serves 4 or 5.
