Paper Sack Chicken Barbecue

Ingredients:

  • 3 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 3 tbsp catsup
  • 2 tbsp butter or margarine
  • 2 tbsp vinegar
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 (3- to 3 1/2-lb) chicken, cut up

Directions:

  1. Combine first 12 ingredients in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil; remove from heat. Dip chicken in barbecue sauce, and place in a large, well-greased, brown bag. Pour remaining sauce over chicken. Close bag; secure with staples.
  2. Place bag in a large Dutch oven; bake, covered, at 500° for 15 minutes. Reduce heat to 300°, and bake 1 hour and 15 minutes.
