Orange Yogurt Cake With Honey Syrup

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 2 teasp. baking powder
  • 1 teasp. baking soda
  • 1 1/2 cups honey
  • 1/2 cup coursely chopped blanched almonds
  • 1 tbsp. fresh orange zest
  • 1 1/2 cups honey
  • 1 1/2 cups orange juice

Directions:

  1. Sift together farina. flour, baking powder and baking soda
  2. Stir yogurt, almonds, orange juice concentrate, orange zest, and 1 1/2 cups honey into dry ingredients
  3. Por batter into a well greased 9 x 13 inch baking pan.
  4. Bake at 350 ' F for 45 mins. or until the top is golden brown
  5. To make the syrup:
  6. Bring 1 1/2 cups honey and1 1/2 cups orange juice to a boil.
  7. Reduce heat and simmer 5 mins
  8. Remove from heat and discard any froth that may have formed on the syrups surface
  9. Pour syrup over the finished cake.
  10. Poke cake gently with a toothpick to help the cake to absorb syrup
  11. Serve when cake is cool and the syrup has been absorbed
  12. Hints:
  13. For a nice presentation encircle the cake with orange slices
  14. Sprinkle top with toasted almond slices..
  15. In the picture the cake was baked in a bunt pan but there are no directions for baking it that way.
