Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Cream butter and sugar until smooth; add eggs, 1 at a time, and mix well.
  2. Add soda to buttermilk, then add to creamed mixture.
  3. Sift flour into big bowl; add dates, orange slices, and nuts.
  4. Stir until mixed well and add coconut.
  5. Combine to cream mixture; stir well (This will be very heavy and hard to stir)
  6. Pour into a greased and floured angel food cake pan or a large bundt pan.
  7. Bake at 250 degrees for 1 1/2 hours.
  8. For the icing.. mix well and pour over cake while hot and let it set overnight before serving.....
